The University of Nevada School of Medicine Department of Interna! l Medicine is seeking three General Internists. The successful incumbents will supervise internal medicine residents on inpatient medical service, ambulatory setting and engage in didactic teaching of students and residents. This position has the opportunity to serve as the Clerkship Director or Assistant Program Director. Further, the faculty members will maintain a practice of internal medicine in which he or she directly delivers care to internal medicine patients, attend on the inpatient medical service and devote time to scholarly activities. This will include clinical scholarship, mentoring residents in the production of abstracts, and case reports. For those qualified and interested, opportunities in clinical research will be provided.Candidates will need to have knowledge of Internal Medicine care and practice. Experience in teaching patient care and the ability to manage and prioritize patient care and educational activities.Reporting to the Department Chair of Int! ernal Medicine, the incumbents will engage in the independent ! practice of medicine. The successful performance of job duties as described above are crucial for departmental success in education and patient care, and for school success in education.When the University of Nevada School of Medicine was chartered in 1969, its mission was training and providing primary care doctors for Nevada’s rural communities. The program is affiliated with University Medical Center (UMC) and offers a comprehensive mix of inpatient and ambulatory teaching experiences. The department’s goal is to ensure that each resident possesses the knowledge, procedural skills, critical thinking and professionalism required to succeed as a general internist or future sub-specialist. Positions funded by Federal contracts may be subject to the E-Verify process for employment eligibility verification. M.D. or D.O. Degree. Must have completed ACGME-approved Internal Medicine Residency Program prior to the start date.
